Many people suffer from a mild version of pteromerhanophobia, without even knowing it! That fancy name is the medical term for the fear of flying, which is often dismissed as an illogical fear. While statistics may indicate that people have nothing to fear from flights, flight accidents are a reality, even if remote. Flight life insurance can provide that extra protection that your family may need in case the unthinkable does happen.

Flight life insurance plans cover life, and loss of limbs. Some plans such as the Travelex Flight Insure Plus also provide a few other benefits such as medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. Some other plans like the Flight Guard plan from Travel Guard provide no medical benefits.

While it is true that most commercial airlines do have insurance built in, the amount may not be sufficient to cover your family to maintain their lifestyle. Also, that amount may be a while in the coming, and your family needs immediate protection. Your regular life insurance plan may come in handy; however, some life insurance plans do not cover flight accidents, especially if they happen outside the country.

Some travel insurance plans include flight insurance. Check with your travel insurance company, and if not, flight accident insurance can provide that extra layer of protection for your family when you are traveling overseas.
